“All men are the same, you know.”

Fariya leaned against the railing on the rooftop and kept going. “Sweet little words on the first date, second base on the second, and the next few dates are just to get you into bed. You don’t even realize the last date was the last date. You get home and there’s a text. I don’t feel any connection with you. Or, It’s not working anymore.

She paused for a second, then asked me, “Why are you boys like this, tell me?”

Back in class six, at the math coaching center, when I was borrowing a pen and Fariya’s finger brushed against mine, I had flinched. Listening to her say all of this in one breath, I flinched the exact same way.
